Sebuah hotel berbentuk piramida menghiasi Ibu Kota Pyong Yang, Korea Utara, kini resmi dibuka. Hotel ini menjadi menarik untuk dilihat lantaran pembangunannya memakan waktu 26 tahun.
Surat kabar the Daily Mail melaporkan, Minggu (4/11), hotel Ryugyong merupakan salah satu bangunan tertinggi di dunia. Di dalamnya ada kamar untuk pengunjung, toko, gedung pertemuan, restoran, dan kantor.
Korea Utara memulai peletakan batu pertama hotel Ryugyong sekitar 1980-an, namun satu dekade berikutnya sempat terhenti lantaran krisis ekonomi. Majalah Esquire menjuluki gedung paling buruk bahkan untuk bangunan standar orang komunis.
Bagian luar gedung mulai tertata dengan baik saat perusahaan Mesir, Orascom Telecom, memenangkan tender. Mereka selalu memberikan laporan kemajuan bangunan hingga akhirnya resmi dibuka untuk umum di tahun ini. Orascom mengeluarkan biaya hingga Rp 1,7 triliun.
