Penggalian arkeologi, dilansir Daily Mail, sedang dilakukan di tempat yang kini bernama Torre Argentina itu. Jutaan wisatawan berkunjung karena warisan arkeologinya, tanpa mengetahui Julius Caesar menghembuskan napas terakhir di tempat itu.
Sang kaisar tewas, ditusuk penasihatnya yang memberontak. Peristiwa ini terjadi pada Ides of March atau 15 Maret, 44 Sebelum Masehi. Adegan ini kemudian banyak disadur jadi drama dan film, serta amat terkenal.
Terutama karena penulis William Shakespeare mendramatisir momen terakhir kaisar, dengan kata terakhirnya yang terkenal, Et tu Brute, merujuk pada letnannya yang paling ia percaya, Brutus. Ia tewas sesaat sebelum menghadiri pertemuan Senat tertutup, Curia of Pompeii
